"Whether you’re an aspiring art collector or an art lover ready to go deeper into the New York art world, Gowanus Open Studios is a cultural phenomenon that continues to offer great artwork at great value. As this year’s event is larger than ever with over 400 artists, the trick is knowing where to go.
Join me on a walking tour as we visit the studios of some of the most interesting painters, sculptors, video and sound artists, ceramicists, printmakers and photographers. The artists are in their studios, we’re free to browse and ask questions and often see new ideas the artists are working on.
If you collect art or would like to begin, visiting artist studios is a rare and exciting opportunity. If you're curious about art and artists – if you love creativity, experimentation, craftsmanship and materials – then please join me at Gowanus Open Studios 2019!"

Grassphalt (press release)
Curated by Katherine J. Kim
at Trestle Art Space 850 3rd Ave (27B)
"This is a show about landscapes, kinda. These are not the traditional landscapes of the mid-19th century Hudson River School representing everything in the view of vast lands without figures. Mountains, trees, water, maybe a small rock. I chose these five artists because of their unique relationship with nature. I needed a new word to describe the synergy created when bringing their works together on a small wall in the middle of Brooklyn: Grassphalt."

ArtistsBrantner Deatley, Chen Peng, Chunbum Park, Stacy Petty and Yoon Cho
Undesign the Redline
Fifth Ave Committee at Thomas Greene Park ArtBuilt Mobile Studio
FAC has brought Undesign the Redline, a traveling, interactive exhibit by Designing the WE, to Gowanus. Systemic challenges today, like inequalities in housing, education, income, criminal justice and health are far from separate issues. These challenges are rooted in a deep and entangled history of policies, practices and processes that remain un-revealed and misunderstood. This exhibit unearths the history of racist policy that led us here, and explores frameworks for 'undesigning' these legacies that connect us to current proposals for the future of Gowanus.
SALLY (press release)
Curated by Sasha Chavchavadze and JoAnne McFarland at 3 venues in Gowanus: The Old Stone House & Washington Park, Artpoetica Project Space, and The Gowanus Dredgers Boathouse
A collaborative project, brings together artists, writers, and performers intrigued by the narratives of women, like Sally Hemings, whose destinies are inextricably interwoven with those they knew, and whose lives have often been erased or forgotten.
Parallel Play
Curated by Heather Topcik
at 540 President St in Spaceworks  (in basement)

This Exhibition examines the subtle connections between artists who are doing solitary work in a shared environment.  She show serves as a kind of table-of-contents to what you will find when you enter the Spaceworks Studios.
    On the Outskirts
at  La Bodega Gallery 695 5th ave
This exhibition features artists who are on the outskirts of Gowanus and wanted to participate in GOS.
Featuring David Kutz, Jordan Segal, Judy Hoffman, Lori Sanford-Ross and Michael Watson.

This show was selected as a "must see" destination during Gowanus Open Studios by 3 GOS curators!!!

    GOS2019 is THIS WEEKEND!!
Gowanus Open Studios, aka GOS, is an annual weekend event that takes place in October. Artists in the Gowanus neighborhood (and slightly beyond) open their studio doors and welcome the public to view art, meet the artists, learn about the process of art-making, and get a glimpse of the life of artists.
    This year’s GOS 2019 is the weekend of October 19 - 20.
